Wow we are already halfway through the year!  Doesn’t seem possible, does it?  I would like to start by giving a very heartfelt THANK YOU for making this a great first half.  Also, Thanks for the many Christmas gifts I received.  I have enjoy going to the movies and eating out with my family.  I haven’t quite gone through them all yet.

 

Science Olympiad is in full swing.  We are starting to meet on Saturdays as well for the technology events.  The main event is Feb. 27 so we really need to get things in gear.  If you would like to help it isn’t too late.  No experience necessary.  You can email me.

 

Sixth Grade

STANDARD 4: 

EARTH and SPACE SCIENCE – The student will apply process skills to explore and develop an understanding of the structure of the earth system, earth’s history, and earth in the solar system.

 

We will be working on planets and space phenomenon.  This should be a lot of review and not much new information. 

 

Seventh Grade

STANDARD 2

PHYSICAL SCIENCE – The student will apply process skills to develop an understanding of physical science including: properties, changes of properties of matter, motion and forces, and transfer of energy.

 

This should be the last chapter in Physics.  We will be gearing up for state assessment in April so we will probably be taking some practice tests.

 

Eight Grade

STANDARD 3:                                                                                 

LIFE SCIENCE – The student will develop an understanding of the cell, molecular basis of heredity, biological evolution, interdependence of organisms, matter, energy, and organization in living systems, and the behavior of organisms.

 

We are working on ecology right now and I hope to switch over to physics and chemistry soon.  This will help them get ready for Bishop Carrol.
