Middle School News Religion LENT 2010
LENT A time of many graces
Lent is a season when we prepare to celebrate the mystery of Jesus’ death and resurrection and deepen the conversion symbolized and begun in our Baptism.
On Ash Wednesday, students received “ashes” to remind them that they will die and be held accountable by God for their lives; the ashes symbolized the call from God for us to give up our sins through the power of Jesus’ death and resurrection. On Ash Wednesday, each Middle school nailed His/her “vice” to our classroom cross.
Each day of Lent through prayer we remember our baptismal promises, to change our ways, and return in LOVE to the Father. During Holy Week, each class will burn the “vices” that have been nailed to the cross during our Lenten journey.
WE can prepare ourselves through Prayer Fasting Almsgiving (penances)
Offering ALL of our daily “CROSSES” for Jesus!
