Dear Parents,
it to the story are now reading. WOW! How well we can read now!!! It truly is amazing to see their progress! Religion has been filled with learning prayers, and Project Genesis. We discussed topics like being a person and not a thing, respecting our bodies and keeping ourselves safe. We have discussed some virtues and ways of acting like Jesus. If you would like more information about the program you can go to http://www.nwfs.org/projectgenesis.htm. We will be finishing the unit during the first part of the month and beginning the Sacraments unit. Graphs and graphs and more graphs! The first graders have learned how to graph data and find range, mode, median. We have also been learning about place value and will soon begin geometry, learning about shapes and sides. We will continue with the Book it program this semester. The new requirements starting in February will be to read either 12 picture books or 6 chapter books. The students are doing such a great job! Keep up the good work. Remember if they have not participated in the program they will not be able to attend the class party!
Two fun days coming up are Kansas day on the 29th. During the day we will be learning some Kansas fun facts. Did you know that the Kansas amphibian is the Barred Tiger Salamander. Did you know that the Kansas state reptile is the ornate box turtle?
We will be celebrating 100 day on February 5th. Actually it will be the 105th day of school. Details of events are below. Also we would like to be painting shirts to commemorate this day. Please send a plain white shirt for your child to paint designs by Thursday February 4th.
Upcoming dates:
Friday February 5th, 100 Day!!! We will be doing several activities to help celebrate this day. I would like each student to prepare a display of 100 objects to bring to school. Challenge your child to use objects found around the home and find a unique way to display their collection. They may glue objects to a piece of cardboard in a design (for example, goldfish crackers in a fish shape), create a collage (pictures of toys from a catalog), or use them to build a structure (for example, an igloo made from sugar cubes).
Words to know for this month After, always, blue, were, who, because, buy, found, some, work, been, carry, clean, done, far, how, light, little, live, pretty
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!
